Descent To Mars

4 Collograph, 90 x 30’’

In this piece I was inspired by the topography of Mars which shows how time is countinous yet remains precious. In this process I felt like this print was metaphorical to my grandma’s mind when she started losing her memories of me. My grandma’s mind started living on Mars and I am trying to find her in my collograph maps. The hope in this is to slow down time and in doing so, to actually perceive her grandma. For me, the passage of time connects to how perceptible grief is and topography is a way relay this message.
