Globule
22 x 30’’, Monotype
I was inspired by Public Abstract by Jane Huffman. She talks about grief in the sense of renewal and finding herself through it. My favorite poem by Huffman says ‘Form implies the opposite of form, a globule, a formlessness, a letting go.’ The word globule stood out to me because she explains it as something that is tangible and that is felt within us. I loved how she interpreted grief and it made me think that grief isn’t just the feelings, it can also be a way of finding yourself through the experience. I want to portray the globule elements in my monotypes to show the vastness of them and in a way to show my progression through my life, of re imagining what is gone. I cut out foam circles to imprint on the ghost of the monotypes to show the importance of seeing the emptiness, that is why the circles don’t quite line up. At the same time alluding to the importance of seeing what is gone and how I reimagine it.
